Sugar Cookies

Course: cookies, snacks, Treats

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In a large bowl cream together your butter & sugar. Mix in egg and vanilla until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl whisk together your flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, cinnamon and salt. Stir dry ingredients into wet. On a lightly floured surface roll out your dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into shapes with your cookie cutters and place on parchment lined baking sheets re-rolling scraps until all the dough is used.
  • Bake for 4 minutes then swap & turn your cookie sheets to allow for even baking. Bake for another 4 minutes. Cookies should be lightly browned on bottom.
  • Remove from cookie sheets and cool on racks. Once cooled you can decorate with sprinkles, sugars or icing.
